The Fast of the Dormition of the Theotokos
Today, August 1st, we enter a special period of the Ecclesiastical Year. It is a period of honoring the Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ, as we commemorate her Dormition (falling asleep) on August 15.
Please try to keep the fast to the best of your ability. If you are able to hold the strict fast, oil and wine is allowed only on Saturdays and Sundays during this period. Fish is allowed on August 6 for the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. If you unable to keep the strict fast, please do as much as you can. If you need to discuss how to best keep the fast and benefit spiritually from it, please speak with Fr. Panayiotis.
The Supplication Service to the Theotokos will be sung on weekdays at 6:00 pm and on Sundays at 5:00 pm.
